Hampshire Drawing Room

Set in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside, this stunning family home is undergoing an elegant transformation.

Starting with the drawing room, with its refined period proportions, we’ve begun to breathe new life into this home.

This room will ultimately serve as our client’s formal drawing room, an elegant space that embraces the home’s character with a blend of opulence and comfort. The dimensions allowed us to create distinct zones: one centred around the fireplace with a comfy sofa, and the other for reading or playing chess. Both areas offer wonderful views into the garden through the impressive floor-to-ceiling windows, and provide balance whilst also preventing any large empty spaces.

We dressed the windows with the wonderful Linara fabric from Romo in Cocoon, a cotton-linen blend with an exceptionally soft, peach-skin finish and hung on handmade bespoke brass poles from Hunter and Hyland. The curtains are trimmed with a Mirador braid from Colefax and Fowler - the crewelwork on the braid features a detailed design in a deep red opulent colourway with fine stitching and two decorative borders which became the springboard for the room’s colour scheme.

We commissioned beautiful bespoke joinery and panelling to add dimensional texture to this restful palette. Custom cabinetry was created with beautiful curves and detailing to mirror the panel detail Custom storage solutions were also built. All woodwork was painted in Silent White from Little Greene, a perfectly balanced, neutral-warm white. Above the panelling, we hung the beautiful monotone wallpaper Pure Acorn in Linen/Ecru from William Morris Collection, featuring a pared-back representation of acorn branches originally designed in 1879.
