SEND Support Centre Family Room and Staff Room

Dingley's Promise is a charity founded to support children in their early years with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their full potential.
They have 8 Centres with three in the Reading area.
We were delighted to support them with a design for a fresh new Family Room and an updated Staff Room.
The Brief
The centre lacked a suitable Family Room where families could attend parenting workshops, support sessions and confidential meetings. And the Staff Room was also in need of refreshing and updating to provide a functional space for the team to eat their lunch and also offer a place for admin work and staff meetings.
The Solution
From our initial site visit to the centre we identified that a remodelling of the smaller ancillary rooms positioned around the main core play room would be required to create the space that the centre needed for its Family Room.
By opening up two of the smaller rooms into one, this enabled us to create a larger space to accommodate the multi-functions required for the Family Room. As all windows in the centre, for security and privacy reasons, are high and tiny, we were able to take advantage of the new longer room and design a full-length vibrant woodland mural wallpaper feature to compensate for the lack of natural light.
Complementing the colours from the mural, walls were painted in a soothing green and the flooring layout in a zonal design. Modular furniture was chosen to further assist with the multi-functional needs of the space.
